(top-bottom: Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Luna, Celestial, Stellar, Apocaliptic, and Big Bang)
If you're anything like me and you follow a lot of beauty bloggers/YouTubers from the U.K., you've probably been waiting since January to get your hands on these. Every beauty blogger and her mother have been raving about these lip lacquers for months and they've just recently been released here in the U.S. Now, in the U.K. they're called Rimmel Apocalips (which I think is such a great name for a lip product), so while I'm disappointed that they've changed the name, I'm generally really happy with the rest of the product.
The color range is pretty impressive I think (I have 5 out of the 14 shades) and the names are all space-themed, which I think is cute. Luna is a light peachy color, which is as close to nude/light lips as I'll go. Celestial is a great everyday lip product for me because it adds a nice dusty pink color without looking too old-fashioned. Stellar is a super bright pink (as you can see from that swatch above in the middle), which looks great in the summer with a tan. Apocaliptic is a deeper pink, almost magenta shade, so it's pretty bold but looks lovely on the lips. Finally, Big Bang is a true red--perfect for a night out.
As for the product itself, it's essentially a cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss that dries matte and lasts forever. They're also super pigmented so you only need a little bit to get a great wash of color. If you like sheer lipsticks/lip glosses or tend to wear only lip balm then these might be a little too much for you're daily use, but I find them to be super flattering. They're also really easy to apply because they come with a doe-foot applicator and the product kind of sits in a little indentation in the middle of the brush to make it really easy to apply.
I'm so happy to finally have my hands on these babies that I have nothing bad to say about them. They really are super long lasting (I wore Luna through a dinner that involved a nice beer, a hearty burger, and an ice cream sundae and it was still going strong after all of that). These literally won't come off.
I think they're only available online from Walgreens, so make sure to check them out there. Let me know which ones are your favorites!
